How your elopement photography experience works:

Chances are you’ve never been to an elopement before, but I have! No matter what, the goal is to have as much fun as possible! For most of your day I am a documentary photographer, focused on capturing the moments as they happen. There are so many unplanned and unexpected laughs and shenanigans. My goal is to create photos that make you say, “These are SO. US.” Great elopement photography is the ultimate time machine. When you view your full gallery, you will be transported back to every emotion and every vista you experienced. And that’s pretty awesome.

F.A.Q.

The focus of an elopement is on what the couple wants, and not what would please others. Planning an elopement is much more like planning a dream honeymoon than a large-scale event, free from the needs or expectations of guests or relatives. The couple may choose to share their ceremony with up to 15 guests present, or sometimes they read their vows privately and celebrate with friends and family at a mealtime before or afterwards – still an elopement. Nowadays, not all folks feel the need to keep their plans to elope secret. You can read more about the differences and take the quiz to see which is right for you here.

I only photograph & plan elopements and micro weddings with 15 or fewer guests. For international weddings my guest maximum is 60.

This means I’ll shoot the entire day, be it 6 or 8 or 12 hours. Whatever is happening – covered. The more hours are included, the more fun my couples have and that’s the most important thing to me! Don’t turn your day into a stressed event of completing a rushed photo checklist. Instead, enjoy the elopement photography experience of doing all the things you love. Elopements shorter than 4 hours are possible when aligned with my travel dates.

Well, yes and no. Some National Parks & forests have restricted areas within the park where you can have your ceremony. Other parks have a request & approval system, where you can ask to hold your ceremony in a specific spot and the administration will decide case-by-case. Some places are totally off limits. I will help you navigate all of this! However, the elopement location must be legal in order for me to photograph it. I could lose my ability to work.

Every elopement booking includes all the high resolution images with printing rights. So you actually get the photos you hired me to take. About 80-100 images will be delivered from each hour spent shooting and all images are finished to the standard you see here on my website. After your shoot, I will send you sneak peeks within 48 hours of a few favorite images for you to share right away. Within 30-60 days, you’ll get all the photos in an online, shareable, password protected, unwatermarked gallery. You can download your images from there and print them anywhere.

Nope. I won’t make anyone skinnier, remove wrinkles or airbrush skin. I will not adjust any permanent aspect of your appearance. Authenticity is awesome! I won’t change your makeup or your look in any way. Temporary marks like zits and dog leashes may be removed for a retouching fee if you consider them unsightly. Bring on the windblown hair!

Yesssss, all the time! I live nomadically in a 5th wheel camper. I’ve shot in 16 states and have been to 10 countries on 5 continents. Ask me about my current travel dates!

OF COURSE! The elopement experience is inclusive to e v e r y o n e. I celebrate and photograph all love, marriages, and families, and I put the B in LGBTQ myself. And of course, Black Lives Matter. If you are part of a thruple or polyamorous relationship, please know you are welcome here too! See my LGBTQ Photos here.

These mind-benders are called Tiny Planets, and I’m the only one who creates these one of a kind artworks for my clients. A tiny planet is a spherical panorama that captures the entire 360 view in one image. How cool is that? These aren’t taken by a drone! Just specialized techniques in photoshop. Read more about tiny planets here.

A First Look is a private moment for the couple to see each other before the ceremony, and it’s the #1 way to have a more fun and relaxed day! I always recommend, but do not require, that my couples plan a first look. If you’re eloping, this might mean you get ready together, or separately and see each other at the trailhead! It also allows those with late afternoon ceremonies to have more photos taken during daylight, and finally – all the adorable crying! There’s no reason NOT to do a first look! But if you’re not feeling it, that’s ok. I only want what you want.

I actually didn’t go to college for photography – or at all! I’m self taught and have been running my business since 2009. I was homeschooled for most of my life and never stopped learning. I’m a member of the wedding photojournalists association, LGBTQ I Do, Wandering Weddings, and fearless photographers which inspire me to push myself to capture the candid and authentic moments at elopements and weddings.

Yes! I love when couples choose to have an album made. (Though I’ll never force you to buy one!) While eloping is a one of a kind experience, having a book to hold it all in your hands is pretty special too! My albums are beautiful, long lasting, custom designed just for you. This is also a great option to gift to family that wasn’t able to be with you on your elopement day.

First, see if your desired date is available by contacting me! Then we will have a no pressure and no obligation phone call or virtual meeting and talk about your goals. I want to know how I can knock it out of the (national) park for you! I require a $1500 retainer and your e-signature on my e-contract to book your date. Your destination elopement experience is about to begin!
