A sunrise proposal at lost gulch in Boulder, CO is always romantic, and Vasuki made it even more special by inviting me to photograph it! For this epic mountain location, we planned to surprise Soumya by inviting her to see the sunrise over the mountains. Luckily, this spot is just a short walk from the parking area, so she was up for Vasuki’s new, sudden interest in the outdoors and early wake up call – twice! The first day we planned to do the proposal, the couple blew a tire before dawn on their way to Boulder, and had to spend all day getting a new one instead of enjoying newly engaged life! Soumya later said she couldn’t understand why he had been SO unreasonably bummed about their flat tire. I’m sure they laugh about it now! Keep scrolling to see their Lost Gulch proposal photos.

Proposal At Lost Gulch

Round 2 dawned with a deep blue smoky haze over the high peaks, leftover from the wildfire smoke across our state. It was a beautifully moody and colorful “sunrise”. So even though we didn’t get that beautiful gold early morning light until later, it was a unique view they will definitely remember. The best part was that the three of us were completely alone for the special proposal moment. Soumya actually said “No! No! No!” when she saw him down on one knee. Basically, my worst nightmare! Every cell in my body just wanted to bolt. How awkward would it be for me to photograph a proposal and the proposee says no? And then I’d have to deliver the photographs to the heartbroken proposer?? Anyway, it turns out she was just SO surprised that she said ‘no’ in shock, but she soon became emotional at his sweet gesture and nodded her yes. Be still, my pounding heart!!

SHE SAID YES!

Vasuki then pulled out a bouquet of flowers and an adorable outfit for her to change into, and we did a mini engagement session at Lost Gulch Overlook. Did I mention how cute they are together?
