Victoria & Delilah’s Lesbian Waterfall Elopement in Colorado

You’re about to find out how freaking awesome a lesbian waterfall elopement in Colorado can be – and how wet. Oh yeah, I went there. Wet was actually the theme of the day. But first, let me tell you the backstory. When these two friends-to-lovers contacted me, they were super open about what they wanted. “We’re from Texas. We love it all, we just don’t want to be hot.” Let’s just say I delivered on that promise. While they originally wanted to elope in a National Park, they weren’t attached to anything specific. Victoria and Delilah put their trust in me and I guided them to the best region of Colorado – Ouray in the southwest San Juan Mountains. This mountain range has everything – the wildlife that Delilah wanted and the private adventure areas that they craved.

Rainy Elopement Photos

Folks, this elopement is the perfect example of rainy elopement photos that are beautiful and unique. Every time we stopped the car at some gorgeous viewpoint, it immediately began pouring. It rained at their first look at my favorite mountain view location in all of Colorado. It rained when we stopped to see a mother moose and her twin calves. When we got to the start of the short hike to their ceremony location, it wasn’t raining! But it began to pour as soon as our cars were out of sight. Gotta give a shout out to my amazing clients and new bffs here: They weren’t hot, and they embraced the wildly inappropriate weather with big smiles and bigger hearts.

Their Lesbian Elopement Ceremony at a Waterfall in Colorado

After taking our shoes off and crossing an ABSOLUTELY FREEZING mountain stream with lots of cussing, we arrived at their waterfall ceremony site. Maybe it was the fact that this waterfall is hidden and only known by locals.. or the fact that any sane person would have stayed indoors, or the floodwatch with thunder and lightning, but we had the entire waterfall to ourselves. During their emotional elopement ceremony, tears were shed as it rained buckets on our intrepid heroes. Their elopement ceremony was unforgettably.. wet. 😉

Jeeping Elopement in Ouray

After a much needed cheeseburger for lunch, we took our chances with the weather and headed back out into the mountains. We really needed to put the women’s rented jeep to good use, doppler be damned! We wound our way up the steep mountainside to 12,000 feet in dense fog. But when we got to the alpine lake at the top, it was clear and best of all, not raining! “I get it now,” said Victoria. “I get why people are obsessed with their Jeeps.” We romped around the shoreline, braved the wind, and saw many cute animals much to Delilah’s delight. Later, Victoria brought out her guitar and played an original song for her new wife, titled “More Than A Fairytale.” And I swear – the sun came out for a minute!
