Fall Elopement in Aspen, Colorado
Fall Elopement in Aspen, Colorado
Wowee! Alison and Dale’s fall elopement in Aspen, Colorado is one for the history books. And their untraditional fantasy inspired elopement outfits made them look like they had stepped off the page of their very own fairytale. We had the most stunning clear sky day at the beginning of October when Aspen’s fall colors are at their peak. My heart was so happy that two people so deserving were getting to enjoy the very best of Colorado. Along the way, we hunted for the perfect fall leaf in an activity I call, “leaf of the day.” Just wait until you see the star photos they ended their day with – they are stellar! See what I did there?
Just Us Two Elopement in Aspen
Because our intrepid explorers chose to elope by themselves with no guests at all, they had ultimate freedom in how their day unfolded. They got ready in a quaint cabin at Twin Lakes, which was cozy and remote. They shared a first look in front of one of the most epic views in all of Colorado. A stand of orange aspens framed them perfectly at the lakeshore. And they even obliged my request to walk out onto a peninsula for what I’m calling the best reflection photo of my entire career! Soon, it was time for lunch and we picnic’ed at 11,000 feet at Independence Pass. The autumn colors of the tundra were giving total Lord of the Rings vibes as they explored the rocky terrain, hand in hand. Always up for something unique, Alison and Dale chose to visit a cave in Aspen. Who else can say they explored a cave at their elopement?!
Aspen Elopement Ceremony in the Mountains
I chose a trail that was easy and short, but private enough for Alison and Dale to be totally alone as they said their vows. Best yet, it was in the shadow of Mt. Daly, which is pretty close to Dale. Mt Daly has a stripe of rock across its side, just as our groom Dale has a natural black streak on the side of his head. Coincidence? I think magic. It was late afternoon when we poured the mead into the horns for their fall elopement in Aspen. The gold leaves were lit up around them and not a single hiker passed by. “Mawwaige…” Began Alison’s vows. “Mawwiage is wot brings us togevah, today..” You can see my Aspen elopement locations guide for more great ceremony spots in Aspen.
Unique Fantasy Inspired Elopement Clothes
Non-traditional is a way of life for some folks. Especially for those that choose to elope! Alison wasn’t a bride that gravitated towards wearing white. Instead, she chose a mint green gown, embroidered with natural flowers and butterflies. Instead of a fussy veil, she kept warm with a gorgeous embroidered cloak. Her flower crown kept things whimsical and special. Dale matched her energy with a brown tweed vest and substituted an ascot for a tie. Both of their cloaks were handmade by his mom as a wedding present. I love when couples embrace their inner desires and have a day that’s perfectly tailored to them.
Congratulations Alison and Dale!
