2017 was a crazy, awesome, busy year for me! This end of year recap has it all – epic wedding favorites, bloopers, and behind the scenes photos of me in action.
This year in numbers:
I spent 272 hours behind the camera,
photographing 69 jobs,
including 19 weddings and 17 engagements,
in 8 states,
delivering 25,657 final images to clients,
all within 30 days.
I spent over $8,000 in equipment, maintenance, marketing, and materials,
drove 2,137 miles
hired 8 assistants,
created 4 albums,
and fostered 13 homeless cats while editing your photos.
Let’s start the 2017 highlight recap with some adorable proposals I had the pleasure of shooting! Congratulations to these happy people!
The best first look moments all involved tears.
Ridiculousness at engagement shoots was at an all time high in 2017, like when Emily & Brendan’s session got photobombed by a huge bull elk.
Or when a wardrobe malfunction goes too far..
Or Nina and Mike’s ridiculously cool Tiny Planet at the Chicago Bean.
Sarah & Jake had committed to a sunrise engagement shoot after a 2 hour hike before dawn. There was no sunrise, but the peace and fog at Emerald Lake was incredible for this six-image stitch!
Valerie & James braved the cold at Echo lake one night for my first attempt at star trails. This photo took hours to complete, easily earning its place in my most epic shots of the year!
And who can forget the couple that asked to share a burger “lady and the tramp style, but with two ladies.” for their E session?! LOVE IT!
Now, where the real magic happens: The wedding day! Things may go “wrong” but the photos go so right! Like when this bride needed all hands on deck to fit the girls into her dress!
And those same ladies used a lighter to melt the edges of a ribbon to keep Mandy’s red shoes on for the day. Basically, they’re all Macgyvers.
Amy & Adam couldn’t have been luckier with this stunning rainbow on their wedding day!
Kimber takes putting on the garter VERY seriously. But maybe there was a bit too much wedding underwear to see!
We had to dash outside just after Alissa & Thomas’s first dance to catch this sunset. We literally had about two minutes to shoot the sky, but we definitely made the most of it! I couldn’t live without this shot!
I caught these ladies lighting up together.. but it’s ok, they were in the grandma’s smoking area, designated just for them!
This couple did everything I asked them to, including climb this mountain of rock during our creative portrait session in RMNP even though it was just above freezing and foggy as heck! Did it pay off? You bet your butt it did!!
This adorable boop is everything.
Another cold one – this Tiny Planet on a frozen lake was one of the first I did – See my new Tiny Planets page for more of these images!
On the beach for their day-after wedding sesh and this golden light wrapped around Nina & Mike! A photographer’s dream.
Groomsman Nick went to lift the bride .. and showed off how seriously he took the red & black dress code with a ripped backside!
Getting a closer look..
When you have ten groomsmen, chances are one is going to go down..
This is how you do JUST MARRIED! Look at all that joy.
Speaking of epic moments, how awesome is this dip kiss in the denver art museum?
A breezy October wedding was saved by the quick thinking of a bridesmaid. Those faces though!
The line “Nuts to butts” garnered some of my most hilarious groomsmen photos.
I took my Double Exposure game to the next level this year. All of these images are made up of two images taken over each other in the camera. No photoshop here!
Travis surprise dipped Martha for their first kiss – it’s even more special because the pastor is her father. Check out his reaction!!
After their vows at the evergreen lake house, Dustin & Anthony shared their second kiss as husbands and it was beautiful!
“What if we all put our legs up on the railing like this?” Hmm.. bad idea when you’re only wearing robes!
And finally.. a collection of hilarious positions I got into this year while on the job!
My 2018 tagline is an obvious choice!
“You’re going to look epic. We’re going to have fun. I’m going to get dirty.”
