10 Year Vow Renewal Photoshoot

My last shoot of this year was for a couple very near and dear to my heart. Doing their 10 year vow renewal photoshoot was such a great full circle moment for me. I actually got to watch this couple meet for the very first time all those years ago. I was Kerry’s maid of honor, and they together officiated my own wedding. So you could say we’re close. When they told me they wanted updated photos and threated to hire someone else if I didn’t fly to Chicago, I couldn’t say no. That’s how friendship/bribery/blackmail works.

For their 10 year vow renewal shoot, Kerry and Rob wanted to keep things simple. They didn’t feel the need to redo their vows or rent a tuxedo or venue. And they chose to wear updated outfits that reflected their current style. But there were simple touches throughout the day that reminded them of their wedding. Kerry wore the same bracelet that I’d strapped to her wrist all those years ago. And I queued songs on their phones taking them through the decade of their relationship. Most of all, they wanted to capture what their lives look like right now: loving living in Chicago and seeing the sights of their new home.

Vow Renewal Locations in Chicago

We hit up some of the best Vow Renewal locations in Chicago, starting on the North side with a big skyline view. It was almost deserted and gave us a big picture view of the city. Next up was obviously the riverwalk to get Chicago’s iconic architecture. We knew we had to get some photos on Columbus bridge, since this couple met at OSU Columbus. The fall colors in late October were poppin’ as we walked up the old stairs and over to the Bean. We weren’t even planning to stop at the Bean, since we knew it would be crowded. But we were walking right by it on our way to the Art Institute, so it had to happen. Lastly, Buckingham fountain was a classic spot for them to throw down some swing dancing moves.
