Winter Sprague Lake Elopement

Jasmine & Aaron’s Winter Sprague Lake Elopement

I have the BEST job! I’m incredibly lucky to shoot beautiful elopements like this one last weekend, in a blizzard no less! The fantastic Jasmine & Aaron joined me for their winter Sprague lake elopement in Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes Park. Before the ceremony, we stopped at Moraine Park for photos with the big mountain views they wanted. Because the park is usually crowded with tourists, this deserted winter day was extra special. Just the way I like it! Then the sun broke through the winter clouds for a few minutes of glorious gold light, I thought the day couldn’t get any better..

The Rocky Mountain National Park Ceremony

..However, I was proven wrong when we arrived at nearby Sprague lake for their ceremony, and we were instantly surrounded by the most magical blizzard. It looked like a movie, or a snowglobe. Their private, short and sweet ceremony at Sprague was joy-filled and idyllic. They got to speak from the heart with no one else to overhear their personal vows. We were even graced with a brilliant sunset across the high peaks, a rare treat in the winter! As twilight fell, we lit up two lanterns for some after-dark romantic portraits. These turned out to be some of my favorite elopement photos of the whole day! Jasmine & Aaron, thank you for choosing me to capture the first day of the rest of your lives! See my Rocky Mountain National Park Guide to browse all the other amazing elopement locations in the park!

To cap off the fairytale, we played with some candlelit lanterns in the twilight.

So beautiful!!! I love them all – but especially that last photo. Backlighting + Lanterns= Pure magic!

Lucy, I don’t even know these people, and I found your photography brought tears to my eyes – and not just once. You have brought out all of the wonder and romance.
